Decompose items in IQNECT

Decomposition simplifies the creation of downstream items that break down one or multiple source items. You can access decomposition from various locations:

  • In document view:
    • An IQNECT AI button is located on the tracker toolbar to decompose the entire tracker.
    • An AI button appears in each item's toolbar to decompose only that item.
  • In table view and issue view, locate an icon with two arrows.

All of these buttons will bring up a menu where you can select the item to decompose into, based on your tracker configuration. The user will also be able to filter the tracker type within the Decompose menu.

When selecting an item for decomposition and specifying the target, a full-screen view will open. This view displays both the existing downstream items of that type and a list of automatically generated items resulting from the decomposition process. The items that are being decomposed appear on the left side of the screen, while the downstream items appear on the right side of the screen. For items generated by IQNECT, you have the option to either save or discard them, allowing you to retain only the items relevant to your project.

Furthermore, for any generated item, you can click on its description to edit it in-line before saving or discarding it. This action opens a fully-featured editor, which includes support for AI autocomplete. Even before saving an item, you can right-click on it to access AI analysis and make any necessary changes to ensure the item meets your project's standards.

If the user needs to add an item that the decomposition process didn't automatically generate, simply right-click on any source item. From the menu, select "Add item type." A blank item will appear on the right-hand side, allowing you to input any description you wish. This item supports autocomplete and analysis, just like other items.

The user can also add additional tracker items in the same Decompose menu by clicking on the Add Item... button. A new pop-up will be displayed that has all of the related tracker items.

The user can search for any items using the search bar or scroll down the list. Multiple items can be selected by holding down CTRL and clicking on the items (a checkmark will display on the item card). When an item is added to the Decompose menu, it will automatically be decomposed.

An information message will display, notifying the user that the item has been fully decomposed and that no further downstream items are necessary.
